Article

Not all elected officials in the Fredericksburg region support rapid data center expansion. Several local politicians have called for greater scrutiny, additional public review, and stronger development standards before approving future projects.

In Spotsylvania County, Supervisors Lori Hayes and Jacob Lane have been associated with efforts to increase oversight of data center proposals. Public discussions have focused on citizen concerns regarding water resources, electrical infrastructure, noise, setbacks, and compatibility with nearby residential communities. Some elected officials have argued that residents deserve greater input before major industrial projects move forward.

Following local elections, several supervisors advocated requiring special-use permits for future data centers rather than allowing them by right in industrial districts. Supporters of this approach argued that the public should have opportunities to comment on projects that may significantly affect nearby neighborhoods.

At the state level, some Virginia lawmakers have gone further by advocating a temporary pause or moratorium on new data center development until broader concerns regarding water supplies, energy demand, and infrastructure impacts can be evaluated. These proposals reflect growing skepticism about whether current regulatory frameworks adequately address community concerns.

Politicians skeptical of data center growth do not necessarily oppose technology development altogether. Instead, many argue for slower growth, stricter regulations, larger buffers, enhanced environmental protections, and more extensive public involvement. Their position reflects a belief that economic benefits should be balanced against potential long-term impacts on residents, natural resources, and community character in the Fredericksburg area.

The Best Glute Exercise You’ve Never Done! #shorts #strengthtraining

The Connection Between Back Pain and Tight Glutes If you suffer from lower back pain, the source of your discomfort may not actually be your back. In many cases, tight glute muscles can play a significant role in creating or worsening back pain. Understanding this connection can help you address the root cause of the problem and find lasting relief. The gluteal muscles, which include the gluteus maximus, medius, and minimus, are some of the largest and most powerful muscles in the body. They help stabilize the pelvis, support proper posture, and generate movement during activities such as walking, running, and lifting. When these muscles become tight, weak, or dysfunctional, they can alter the way your body moves and distributes force. Tight glutes can restrict hip mobility, forcing the lower back to compensate during everyday movements. For example, when bending, squatting, or climbing stairs, the lumbar spine may take on more work than it should. Over time, this extra stress can lead...

Exercise for strong knees

If you're dealing with back, hip, or knee pain, the right squat variations can help strengthen supporting muscles, improve mobility, and reduce discomfort. However, proper form is essential, and anyone with significant pain should consult a healthcare professional before beginning a new exercise program. Chair Squats  are one of the safest options for beginners. By sitting back toward a chair and standing up again, you strengthen the glutes, quadriceps, and core while minimizing stress on the knees and lower back. Box Squats  are another excellent variation. Performing squats to a box helps control depth and encourages proper hip engagement, reducing strain on the knees while building lower-body strength. For those experiencing hip stiffness,  Goblet Squats  can improve hip mobility. Holding a light weight in front of the chest helps maintain an upright posture and encourages better movement patterns. Wall Squats  provide support for individuals with knee discom...
